​Serving as the Director and Chaplain of the Detroit Catholic Boy Scouts throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Rev. Leo infused his troops with both the spirit of Scouting and the spiritual idealism of the Church. Leo organized Church-sponsored Scout troops throughout Michigan.​​
