Dennis F. Burge (1913 - 1978): An LSU Hall-of-Fame Career?​

Louisiana State University is the alma mater of some of America’s most well-known sports heroes. Its Hall-of-Fame includes Shaquille O’Neal, Bob Pettit, Pete Maravich, Y. A. Tittle, Jim Taylor, Billy Canon – and all five stars of the 1933 National Track Championship (Moreau, Hardin, Torrance, Gordy, & Blair).

 

Why not Pete Burge? Pete was the starter on three LSU teams; served his country in WW2 as a Navy Lieutenant; and coached a generation of star high school athletes -- but he still is not an honored member of LSU's Hall of Fame...
