Returning John's 1930 Peoples Regatta Elgin

to Granddaughter Debbie McNeill

Through a friend, Debbie McNeill -- John Schmitt's granddaughter -- found about John's story on my "TimeCapsule-Watch.com" website and contacted me. We exchanged phone calls / emails, and, after 90 years, it was my honor to reunite John's 1930 Peoples Regatta Elgin watch with his family:

"We spent every summer with my grandparents in Ocean City, NJ at my Uncle’s home. We also visited them yearly in Florida, and were able to spend some Christmas’s together when traveling allowed."

"John was one of 19 children, none died, three sets of twins-girls, boys, and girl/boy. John was the youngest boy...Grandpop worked for John Wanamaker at his department store in center city Philadelphia for 50 years. He worked his way up from playing the bugle that opened and closed the store to selling high end men’s clothing-suits and shirts that were custom fitted back in the day. I learned a lot of my tailoring tips/tricks from him."

"I can’t thank you enough for doing this and returning the watch to us. I will be sending out good thoughts and positive energy that you can connect other families and their watches-it is truly little miracles happening."
