Mildred Riley's 1930 Illinois "Grand Champion" Watch

Among all my TimeCapsule watches, this is the only one with total provenance: Newspaper articles describing the awarding of the watch; a photo of Mildred wearing the watch; and the original (Illinois) presentation case -- along with Mildred's handwritten note, "Watch I won in 1930".

Mildred's $50 Illinois watch (about $775 today....) was presented to Mildred at an awards banquet hosted by the Illinois Bankers Association (I.B.A). Quite a prize for a 12 year old farm girl in the Great Depression!!
