Lt. Cyril Murphy: Awarded Distinguished Service Cross

Cyril Murphy was honored with the Distinguished Service Cross - the Army's second highest medal - for extraordinary bravery during the invasion of Anzio Italy, and two Purple Hearts for wounds received in Italy and France. Murphy was a commander in the Sicily invasion and during the liberation of Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland.

Murphy's Distinguished Service Cross was presented to him by Lt. General Mark Clark, commander of the 5th Army for his extraordinary bravery at Anzio.
