Leon"Pete" Millington - Biography 3
Trenton Post 93 - Hometown Heroes
Trenton returned home as local heroes -- the #1 American Legion Junior Baseball team. On September 29, 1948, there was a testimonial banquet held for them at the Hotel Stacy-Trent, where each player was presented their personalized Hamilton Dwight model wristwatch.
In October, they were invited by the National Americanism Commission to attend the first two games of the World Series in Boston to see the Boston Braves play the Cleveland Indians. In Game 1, Bob Feller was outdueled by Johnny Sain, 1-0. Game 2 matched Bob Lemon and Warren Spahn, with Lemon getting the 4-1 victory. You can imagine the impact on 16-year-old Pete Millington seeing three future Hall-of-Fame pitchers -- Feller, Lemon, and Spahn -- in the World Series!!!
