Alfred Riha Biography-1: Overview


Lt. Alfred Riha (1923 – 1991)
​
Lt. Alfred Riha was born and raised in Inglewood, California. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in March 1943, and received his initial pilot’s training in Class 44-A at Santa Ana, CA, along with the other five pilots. He and William Buttner both received Primary Training at Lemoore Army Air Field beginning in June 1943.

Alfred received his advanced training as a member of Luke Airfield’s “44-A-3” class along with Butner and Brew; his photo is in the SIR! yearbook.
​
​Riha piloted C-47 cargo planes while stationed at Tinker Air Base Oklahoma in 1945.​
