Col Rand's Gruen Watch

Watch Specialties was a Gruen subsidiary that imported non-Gruen manufactured Swiss movements during the 1910s. The name is usually never shown on the watch exterior. It does appear on the bridge of movements and on the case back inside.

Col. Rand's 17-jewel, 14K gold Gruen cost around $15 in 1918 (about $275 in 2020....)

The watch was purchased on eBay without a stem; my watchmaker tried to fabricate one, but it still doesn't run. I paid way too much for this watch -- but I had to have it!!
