A Cold War Love Story

While stationed in Germany as a 1st Lieutenant with the 2nd Armored Division, Onore met a young German, Anneliese Hofmann, fell in love with her, and planned to marry after his tour of duty was completed in 1954. However, permission was denied because of a minor legal issue involving Anneliese. It actually took a 1954 Act of Congress to allow her to marry & join Onore in the US.

Onore and Anneliese were married in 1954, and had three children, Katherine, Robert, and Michael.  Anne became a naturalized American citizen in 1974.
